Resolutions For A New Year

December 31, 2018

This past year has been a rough year both personally and in the world.  I am so ready for the start of a new year and a clean slate.  Holidays are over and its a time to start fresh.  I made a lot of changes in my life in 2018 and I want to stick with those changes and possibly bring some more into my life this year.  Resolutions are always such a big part of starting the new year.   Everyone wants to make those changes and stick to them.  I have some ideas and wanted to share them with you guys!

res·o·lu·tion

This year I will…

Start a new habit:
I would like to pick up the habit of making my bed daily and keeping a tidier room.  The bedroom is meant to be your sanctuary and I love my room, but it can get a bit messy sometimes.  Trust me when I say that I have gotten way better at this over the last few years, but I can do better.
At Home With Caitlin Wilson

According to The Spruce there are 5 real benefits to making your bed in the morning:
  1. It starts your day off right.  It might be a small accomplishment, but making the bed sets the tone for the entire day.
  2. It encourages you to keep the rest of your room tidy.  Even the most organized, beautiful bedroom looks less tidy with an unmade bed, and the converse is also true: When the bed is made, it helps the rest of the room look styled, even if it is not perfect.
  3. It leads to better productivity.  Bed making becomes a keystone habit, something that kickstarts a chain of other good decisions throughout the day, and gives you a sense of taking charge.  It can lead to a greater sense of well-being and stronger skills at sticking with a budget.
  4. It lowers your stress and improves your mood.  You spend roughly a third of your life in your bedroom, and the appearance of your room has an effect on your mood.
  5. It just looks and feels better.
Read more books:
I am more of a "summer reader."  I don't really read unless I am by a pool or on the beach.  I don't really even read then unless the book I have is really holding my attention.  I am one of those people that rolls her eyes if someone tells me to "read a book" if I'm bored.  I need to not be that way.  When I find a book that I enjoy I like reading, but it is difficult for me to find that specific book that sparks my interest.  I have been interested in starting or joining a book club in Baltimore.  Anyone else interested?  Just letting you know-- I like light, easy reads.
Learn a new skill:
I have been on a weird kick of wanting to learn embroidery.  My fascination with floral and botanical embroidery is borderline unhealthy.  I have so many patterns and kits saved on Etsy, but I have never pulled the trigger.  I started following people on Instagram admiring their work and even coerced (wasn't hard) my friend Chelsea into wanting to learn too.  This is a skill I would like to acquire in 2019!

Go on a visit to:
2019 is a year for connecting with old friends and family.  I have friends and family all over the east coast (and some west coast) that I need to visit.  I also want to plan a group trip with my old college bests like we did earlier in 2018.  Everyone will have had their babies, I will have become an Auntie again (two times over!) and we can all get together.  I also have cousins that I need to meet!  I want to connect to those that matter the most to me.
Break a bad habit:
One of my worst habits is negative self-talk.  I can't even take a compliment without putting myself down right afterwards.  Someone could compliment my outfit and I will point out a flaw.  Someone can compliment my makeup and I will complain about being oily.  I don't know why, but I have always been like this.  I want to start working on saying something positive about myself every day.  I know that is silly, but I think it will help.  I want to start journaling and this can be part of it!
Do a good deed:
Over the last year I have been toying with the idea of volunteering at GiGi's Playhouse: A Down Syndrome Achievement Center.  I have the volunteer sheet bookmarked on my browser and have been meaning to complete it, but haven't pulled the trigger.  The website states: "The very first Playhouse was created to be an inspirational and dedicated place for families to celebrate their child and benefit from free, purposeful programs that unleash joy, confidence and continuous improvement.  More than 40 Playhouses empower children and adults to achieve their 'Best of All' and to pursue their dreams."  After watching a few season's of A&E's "Born This Way" my heart aches for those families that don't have a place for their children to grow and be accepted for who they are.  I think I would really benefit from this volunteer opportunity and would grow myself.

Try something new:
There is so much to do in Baltimore and I  want to start doing more!  I have come across so many different opportunities with blogging, marketing, classes, workshops, etc.  I found a place in Hampden called Baltimore Chef Shop that boasts itself as a teaching kitchen and hosts cooking classes of all kinds.  I also found a place in Remington called B. Willow that hosts plant-making workshops.  Both of these things sound so fun and like a great opportunity for socializing and just getting out.  I spend a lot of time at home and want to start doing more.

I've read somewhere that you aren't supposed to share your resolutions for fear of either breaking them or being "judged."  I am kind of using this as a form of accountability.  I am more likely to try and do things if I put them out there and people know about it.  I don't like disappointing or letting people down, so I feel like this may hold me to it.  What are some of your resolutions for 2019?

10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me

December 24, 2018

Remember those old "Random Facts About Me" posts on Facebook?  I used to love reading those about my friends and family.  You may know someone, but you may not know everything about them.  Each person has weird quirks or things that make them unique and interesting.  I love to learn about those things!

So, here are 10 things you probably didn't know about me:

One.
I have my iPhone apps organized by color, ROY G BIV, and it makes me inordinately pleased.  I also hate the little red notification dots and will clear them as soon as I see them.  I don't understand the people who have notifications all over their screens-- so crazy!
It is a lot of apps... I know.

Two.
I have a weakness for orange foods/snacks.  I love cheese puffs, Cheetos, carrots, sweet potatoes, orange soda, cheddar cheese... the list goes on!  I happen to believe that orange snacks and a cozy day on the couch can cure anything!
Three.
I love going to the movies.  Luckily I found a roommate that loves to go to the movies as much as I do.  I love the comfy chairs that recline. I love the snacks. I love popcorn that has been perfectly layered with butter. I love being in a theater full of people laughing or crying over the same moment.  It is one of my favorite things!  I am also a sucker for a romantic comedy.  I see almost every single one when it comes out.  Don't even get me started on the fact that I hadn't experienced a Cinebistro until last year.  What?! Those are incredible!  A full meal, booze and a movie?! Nothing better!
Four.
My mom has two sisters and I have lived with both of them.  I am close with both of them and am incredibly grateful for the time that I have gotten with each of them.  I got a little personality from all three of the sisters and consider myself an Abbott girl blend!
Five.
If I am making a trip home to the Eastern Shore of MD I am either stopping on the way there, on the way back, or even both ways at Dairy Queen.  It is a must!  I need my DQ chicken finger basket and mini blizzard fix!  I understand that there are DQs everywhere, and I can get this fix any time that I want, but there is something about my trip to and from the shore that makes me crave it almost immediately when I get in the car.  My favorite blizzard flavor is Cotton Candy because I am a child.  This is a perfect segue into fact #6...
Six.
Cotton candy is quite possibly my favorite flavor.  I will choose it if it is an option in almost any situation.  Promise.  My go-to order at Coldstone Creamery is: Cotton Candy flavored ice cream (yes, it's blue), mini chocolate chips, rainbow sprinkles and whipped cream mixed in.  Having it mixed in makes a difference-- it makes it fluffier and creamier.  Again, I know I am a child.
Seven.
Dill pickles and milk is one of my favorite snacks.  When anyone hears this they immediately assume "pregnancy cravings," but I have loved this since I was little.  I remember walking around with a pickle wrapped in paper towel (so as to avoid dripping-- duh) and drinking a glass of ice cold milk.  To me, the dill brings out a sweetness in the milk that I love.  I know-- gross, right?  No!  I love it!
Eight.
On the count of three name the worst flavor in runts... ready? One.  Two. Three.  Did you say banana?  I know-- everyone hates it.  Well it is my favorite.  I love that Candy Kitchen actually sells each individual flavor of runts on it's own and that I can get an entire bag of banana.  Love them!
Nine.
My Dad's homemade tacos are in my top three favorite meals of all time (Mom's spaghetti is in there too).  They are a Guthrie family tradition and my birthday meal request every single year.  I, sadly, have a record of 10 tacos in one sitting, but am also oddly proud.  They are the best tacos and if you are ever lucky enough to attend my Guthrie family birthday dinner and have tacos you will not be sorry!
9 delicious homemade tacos
Ten.
I am food motivated.  You know, like a puppy.  You can get me to do almost anything if there is a promise of yummy food or drinks afterwards!  I was looking back through this list about me and realized that 6 out of the first 9 are about food.  Shocking!  My Dad has used his tacos as a sort of bribe to get me to come to the shore before.  It doesn't take much guys-- just snacks, good company and laughs and I am a happy girl!

I'm a big weirdo and I hope you are enjoying reading and getting to know me a little bit better.  Like I said, I love reading things like this about other people and hope you do to.  If not, then skip this one lol... although if you got to this point its a little late for that, isn't it?  Tricked ya!  Let me know below if anything of these random things about me are you too!  I love bonding over weirdness and food!

Ugly Christmas Sweater DIY

December 17, 2018

Well guys... I did it.  I crafted an ugly Christmas sweater that won a prize.  I am not the craftiest person, but when I do craft I go all out.  I had seen the same picture going around Pinterest and wanted to re-create it, but with a twist.  I wanted to be more of a transformer version.
My Pin-spiration
I wanted to be able to crouch down and look like a full tree with skirt.  So, I made my way to The Dollar Tree, Michaels and Ross.  Here is what you will need to craft yourself your very own Ugly Transformer Christmas Tree:
  1. Oversized green sweater or dress (I had a dress).
  2. Large hoop.
  3. Garland.
  4. Small ornaments.
  5. Pom poms.
  6. Star tree topper.
  7. Battery powered lights.
  8. Safety pins.
  9. 2 large tree shaped ornaments.
  10. Tree skirt.
With exception of the dress, hoop and battery powered lights everything can be found at The Dollar Tree.  All together the prize winning ensemble cost me $32.00.  My prize recouped what I had put out plus some.  Including, but not limited to, bragging rights.

Steps to make your Ugly Christmas Sweater:
  • I didn't own any oversized green sweaters or dresses, so I went to Ross and found a green swing-style dress in the clearance section that was perfect and only $9.99.  I started by pinning in the large hoop at the bottom of my dress.  I couldn't find a hoola hoop, so I improvised with a wreath ring wire frame that I found at Michael's.  Being the lazy crafter that I am I used safety pins for everything.  So, I pinned the hoop into the hem of the dress about 3-4" apart to ensure that it was secured all the way around.  This is the base of the tree.
  • Next step was to start wrapping the garland.  I started with the base and went all around the perimeter and then moved up in a spiral pattern until I reached the shoulder.  I then wrapped the arms separately.  I made sure to leave enough room for me to be in the sweater and to be able to move my arms, so wrapping a bit loosely was key.  I secured this with the safety pins as well.
    Garland is on!

  • Once the garland is secured you will want to place your ornaments and pom poms strategically on the dress to look like they are "hanging" on the tree.  I made sure to space them out and not jumble them up in specific places.  Remember to also hang them on and around your arms.  You want to look like a well decorated tree when you pull the transformer move!
  • After all ornaments and pom poms are in place you can start wrapping the lights.  I found a small set from Michael's that had a few settings.  I wrapped them around the garland and put the battery pack in the base of the tree above the wreath ring and secured with another safety pin.  It was easy to reach and turn off and on when I was in the dress.
Hard to see, but she is lit up!
  • Last and final step is to pin the tree skirt to the base of the tree.  I pinned it to the front of the dress at the base and secured it to the wreath ring with safety pins.  I wanted to make sure that when I crouched down the skirt would spread out and look like an actual tree skirt.  Voila!  You are all done!
I hung the tree shaped ornaments over my ears like earrings and found a cute headband with a bow on it to look like a present for final touches.  My sweater was a big hit at the Ugly Christmas Sweater party.  Each person from my team won a prize for their sweaters--we really brought the spirit to this event.

My Holiday 2018 Wish List

December 10, 2018

I understand that this holiday season is not all about gifts, but a girl can wish can't she?  I know I already shared a gift guide, and some of those items are gifts I would love to receive, but this is a list of my own personal wishes!

Skin Care:
  1. Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask:  During my holiday shopping I was able to pick up the Glow Recipe Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturizer and have loved it so far!  I love a good overnight sleeping mask and the fact that it smells so delicious is even better!
  2. Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial: I have only used samples of Drunk Elephant products in the past because the products are so pricey!  *Pro-tip: Sephora will give you a free sample of literally anything in the store-- take advantage!  I have seen a couple of reviews of this product, and that it was rated as one of the "Best In Beauty" products from Allure magazine, and am so curious!  Its like a little "baby facial" from home!

  3. DR. JART+ Mask Heroes Face Savers: We have already discussed in my Korean Beauty Routine my love of face masks-- they are the shit.  I have already tried one of the DR. JART+ Rubber masks and loved it.  They are super fun and my skin felt great afterwards!  An entire gift set with all of them sounds like a perfect gift!
Tech:
  1. Amazon Echo Show (Generation 2): When I'm getting ready I like to listen to music, watch YouTube, Netflix, etc.  If I am watching it from bed I am not getting ready, so to be able to have it in my bathroom with me is even better!  Speaker for when I'm in the shower, check the weather before getting dressed, video chat with friends... endless possibilities!
    @dutchcowboys on IG
  2. Quip Electronic Toothbrush:  I love a good electronic toothbrush, but they are so bulky and take up so much space that I never buy them.  I also never buy them because the good ones are so expensive!  I love how compact this one is and you can't beat the price!
    Obsessed with the rose gold

  3. MVMT Ingram Everscroll Glasses: I spend entirely too much time on my phone and computer.  I am literally looking at screens all day.  I've been seeing a lot of posts about these Everscroll blue light blocking glasses and have been so curious!  I want to try them.  I want to see if they will actually help with headaches that I often get and see if they can help with me falling asleep after my late night IG scrolls! Plus they are super cute!
Loving the Matte Brandy Tortoise color
Fashion:
  1. Spanx Faux Leather Moto Legging:  I am a huge fan of Spanx as a brand and their regular faux leather leggings are one of my favorite things in my closet!  I love the edginess that the moto legging can bring to an outfit and that you can dress them up or down!  The detail is gorgeous and I love how they just hold everything where it should be!  Plus they make my booty look gooood!
  2. UGG Cas Slip-On: I tried these slip-ons once during a shopping trip and fell in love!  They are incredibly comfortable and SO CUTE!  I love the rose gold detail and think they are the perfect casual shoe.  Perfect with jeans, leggings, easy summer dresses... anything!
  3. Gucci Soho Disco Leather Bag: This is such a classic, staple handbag!  In my post about staple wardrobe pieces I talked about a neutral leather cross-body-- here she is!  So gorgeous and I love the tassel detail!  I've seen so many of my favorite fashion bloggers post about this bag and have wanted it since the first time I saw it.
    Loverly Grey

Home:
  1. Quality Faux Plant: As much as I would like to deny it, I have a black thumb.  I want plants so badly, but cannot keep them alive.  I recently killed an air plant... turns out you actually do need to water them a little bit and they don't actually live off of air.  Whatever.  I would love a good quality faux plant or tree (specifically a Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree) to bring a little bit of greenery to my home without the commitment of a real plant!
    Apartment Therapy Post
  2. Chunky Knit Blanket: I love a good, cozy blanket for snuggles on the couch.  I have wanted one of the chunky knit blankets for a while, but they are pretty pricey.  I could make my own, but the yarn is pricey too (I guess that's why the blankets themselves are expensive-- whatever).  So, putting it on a wish list seems appropriate!
    Etsy Listing
  3. Bar Cabinet:  Loved the idea of a bar cart for a long time until I was introduced to bar cabinets!  This lacquered cabinet from Anthropologie is so gorgeous!  The lacquered finish, gold and mirrored details and gold pulls-- perfection!  I love that you can style the bottom shelf, top and even inside to match your specific style and aesthetic.  Great neutral piece for any home!
    photo: Anthropologie
Makeup & Beauty:
  1. Natasha Denona Sunset Palette: This warm toned, sunset inspired palette is so GD gorgeous!  I have wanted to try a Natasha Denona shadow and have never been able to bring myself to purchase even a single shadow because they are so expensive!  I hear nothing but amazing things about her shadows, so to say that they are a wish product is an understatement!
  2. Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Cologne: This is a Carlye scent.  I put it on every time I am in a department store and there are samples available.  I have gotten every small sample that I could and am obsessed with this scent.  Theme of this list-- it is so expensive I never buy it.  The floral scent is so fresh and the suede notes give it a slight musk that is incredibly yummy!  I love this perfume!
  3. Artis Elite 10 Brush Set:  I received a foundation brush from this brand as a gift and it has been my favorite ever since.  It applies my foundation like no other.  The finish is smooth and flawless and the amount of product I save by using this brush is crazy!  I have been wanting more of them and have never added to my collection.  This would be my dream face brush set!  I know that they look weird, but trust me!  Most makeup brushes are created with a makeup artist in mind.  These are made specifically for someone doing their own makeup.  It's genius!
She is a pricey list, but what "wish" list isn't?  I love all of these ideas and if someone in my life has recently come into money and wants to purchase any of these for me I will love you forever!  What are some products on your ultimate wish list?  Share them in the comments below!

Fall 2018 Hair Trend: Mushroom Brunette

December 3, 2018

I always feel like I need to match my hair to the current trends of each season, but I never really stray from my "norm" and tend to be a bit cautious.  I like to think that I am more adventurous than I actually am.  I usually scroll through Pinterest and save a million pins of the same look.  This time was a little different!  I got a wild hair and decided to do something a little more "trendy" and looked up what some of the hair trends were for Fall/Winter 2018.  One that stood out to me was a "Mushroom Brunette."  This trend gets its name because the cool toned brunette and ashy blonde shades look just like a mushroom.  It was beautiful!

I have never had a cool toned/ashy hair color before.  I usually lean towards warmer tones-- reds, golden/honey highlights and chocolate browns.  I had decided I was going to do it!  I reached out to my stylist (shout out to Markiesha at Fringe salon in Baltimore!) and set up an appointment.  When I got there we discussed what I was looking for when it came to this trend.  I was leaning more towards the beige highlight/balayage spectrum instead of the more grey/silver tones we were seeing in some inspiration photos.  I wanted to do this because the toner would eventually fade and I wanted to be left with a look that I would still love.  Markiesha teased my entire head of hair and hand painted the bleach-- I'm telling ya'll she is good!  I processed for a while since I had to reach the brightest blonde possible.  She mixed up a toner to get the perfect "mushroom" color for my newly blonded hair.  After we rinsed and washed the toner she cut and styled my hair.  I wanted to keep some length, but had some specific requests-- one being that it looked good in a ponytail.  Weird?  Maybe.  Necessary?  For me-- yes!  I don't wash my hair every day.  Who am I kidding-- I don't wash my hair more than probably once or twice a week!  So, when I don't wash my hair I have a method... Day one: curled.  Day two: curled with some dry shampoo.  Day three: curled with lots of dry shampoo.  Day four/five: ponytail with a teased root to disguise anything I don't want shining through!  I have a favorite wand, flat iron and curling iron that I can share in another post.  She did an overall blunt cut and added in some texture and longer layers to add some volume.

I am so pleased with the final product!  I feel like I gained a little sass with my freshly beige/blonde locks!

When I was checking out Markiesha suggested a colorwash shampoo to help maintain the color in between visits and to help keep my naturally warm/brassy color in check.  I bought the Gem Lites Flawless Diamond Colorwash and have been obsessed.  It is a colored shampoo and comes out of the bottle almost navy blue!  I was nervous at first, but can confidently say that it is one of my new favorite products.  The toner has faded and my hair has maintained a soft, beige blonde and I love it!

Any hair trends that you have tried and loved?  Any that you have tried and hated?  Let me know below in the comments!  I want to get a little more wild in the future.  I have wanted pastel pink or lavender hair for a while.  Who knows... maybe next time!

Just Another Manic(ure) Monday

November 26, 2018

I believe that a person's hands can tell a lot about them.  I have a weird habit of noticing a person's hands upon first meeting.  Coming from a person who has dry skin and is a nail biter--it is very easy to "let things go" when it comes to your hands.  I have tried my hardest to keep my hands moisturized and manicured to make sure that when I shake someone's hand they are getting the best "first impression" of me.

Back in March I was introduced to SNS dipping powders by my roommate, Kate.  What are dipping powders you ask?  Well, according to SNS Nails  "the company introduced a breakthrough innovation: SNS Dipping Powders.  With the powders came a base that is packed with nutrients-- vitamins A, E, D, E, and B5, plus calcium.  The effect is dramatic.  Instead of causing harm to the nail bed, every use of the new formula actually improves its health."  Since I have started using SNS dipping powders my nails have grown and I have actually stopped biting my nails!

I was able to find a shape that I loved and have been able to experiment with many different colors and, my favorite, nail art!  I am a sucker for anything sparkly, so give me any glitter powder and I will say yes!  My current situation is a little extra-- like me!

I cannot wait to start with the dark, vampy fall/winter nails this season!  What are your go-to nail colors?  Comment below!

Makeup Collection: Eyeshadow Palette Edition

November 19, 2018

My name is Carlye, and I am a makeup-aholic.  It's true.  I can't stop myself sometimes!  My biggest weakness is eyeshadow palettes.  I went through and counted 18 (and that isn't even all of them!) that I have in a semi-regular rotation.  I don't wear eyeshadow daily, but when I go out or have a special occasion I like to have options!  So, without further ado, meet my girls!

Too Faced "Sweet Peach"
Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette
"A new take on neutrals featuring fresh-picked shades of peachy pinks, corals, bronzes, and pops of purples that will have you looking sweet as a peach year-round." -Too Faced
This is my one and only palette from the brand Too Faced.  It was incredibly hyped up on social media and I couldn't wait to try it.  I may have set an alarm on my phone to wake up at 3am to buy it online.  I know-- crazy!  I was able to get my hands on it before it sold out during the initial release and I was so excited!  The colors are gorgeous and it smells AMAZING.  Peach deliciousness in every dip!  I have used this palette so much and still haven't hit pan on any of the shadows!  I love that it is such a easy palette to travel with.  The packaging is great and durable.  I love the neutral colors that can be used for every day looks and that there are options to help punch up a look for a more sultry, smoky evening look.  I love this palette!

Buxom Cosmetics "Look All You Want"
Buxom "Look All You Want" Palette

This was part of a holiday gift set.  I received this and have only used it a few times.  The neutral color at the end of the palette is a great transition shade.  I haven't found many neutral shades that work in my crease because I am so fair skinned.  A lot of them tend to look muddy on me or are too warm.  This one is the perfect balance.  I like the other shades, but it isn't a palette that I gravitate to all the time.  I think I need to play around with it a little more!

Buxom Cosmetics Create Your Own Using Single Bar Shadows
Buxom Cosmetics Single Bar Shadows
L-R: Diamond Darling, Pure Platinum, Jetsetter, La La Lavish, LBD, Patent Leather
Another Buxom Cosmetics palette!  I created this one on my own using their bar single shadows.  My goal was to create a palette that could be used for a cool-toned, metallic, smoky eye look.  Specific goals-- I know! But, this black eyeshadow is one of the best black shadows that I have used.  It is pigmented and builds beautifully.  It's perfect to deepen an eye look!  I can do a sleek silver eye or a deep, vampy, gunmetal purple eye-- beautiful colors!

Makeup Geek X MannyMUA
Makeup Geek X MannyMUA
This was my first purchase from Makeup Geek and my first purchase of a collaboration between a cosmetic brand and a beauty YouTuber.  I had watched MannyMUA's videos as well as the owner of Makeup Geek, Marlena, for a while on YouTube.  I was intrigued by the warmer tones and the duo-chrome options, so I decided to pull the trigger.  I have made some really fun looks with this palette, but it isn't one that I reach for regularly.  I need to bring those warm transition shades back into my life!  This palette was a limited edition release and is, unfortunately, no longer available.  Makeup Geek does still offer the shadows individually, so you can build your own palette if you like the colors!

Morphe Cosmetics X Jaclyn Hill "Vault Collection"
Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Vault Collection
Bling Boss, Armed & Gorgeous, Ring The Alarm
I have mentioned these palettes before in my 2018 Holiday Gift Guide.  They are part of a four-piece collection called "The Vault."  These are all colors that Jaclyn Hill created that didn't make it into her original Morphe collaboration (see below).  I love them because they are broken into specific color families.  It makes life so much easier when you can see a set of colors and make a look from them.  I sometimes look at the larger palettes and feel overwhelmed with the amount of colors and possibilities.  The formulas of the shadows are incredibly creamy and pigmented without a huge amount of fall out.

Anastasia Bevery Hills "Subculture"
Anastasia of Beverly Hills Subculture Palette

This palette was released with some controversy in the online beauty community.  It was hyped up on social media and then when the beauty influencers received their palettes they weren't finding them to perform like other ABH shadows had.  They complained that they weren't blendable and that they had a ton of fall out.  To be honest, these reviews kept me from buying the palette in the beginning!  Over time I saw a few reviews that said that they liked the product I was interested in trying it out, but wasn't ready to fork over the full price.  I ended up finding the palette in TJMaxx for half the price and decided to add it to my collection.  I had watched so many videos and seen so many looks that I wanted to play with it immediately.  I liked it!  I didn't find that I had any issues with the blending of the shadows.  It did have quite a bit of fall out, but that doesn't bother me.  I actually find that a lot of ABH shadows have a good bit of fall out, so it isn't anything new to me.  The palette doesn't have colors that I would normally gravitate towards, but they are beautiful and I can't want to play more!
Colors used: Axis, Edge, New Wave and Electric
Anastasia Beverly Hills "Modern Renaissance"
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

ABH Modern Renaissance is the only palette like this that I own.  I have a few (more than necessary-- I know) warm palettes, but none like this.  It has some of the most beautiful reds and pinks that I have ever used!  The shadows are pigmented and bold and create some of the most romantic eye looks I've ever seen.  I am not disappointed by an ABH shadow and think this is an excellent addition to anyone's makeup collection.

Urban Decay Naked Palette Collections
My over the top Urban Decay Naked Collection
Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
I love this palette.  It is a more neutral palette and is a perfect starter piece for any makeup lover.  I think there is a nice balance of matte and shimmer shades.
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
I was so excited about the release of this palette.  I loved the cooler-toned pinks and mauves.  Another very romantic shade range and would make the perfect Valentine's Day date look!

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette (discontinued)
This palette has the perfect name-- Smoky!  You have everything you need to create the perfect neutral smoky eye.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette
My FAVORITE Naked palette!  I don't know if you have been able to tell from this post, but I love a warm-toned color range!
Colors Used: Sauced, Low Blow, He-Devil, En Fuego, Ashes, Lumbre, Scorched

I talked about my love for this palette in my Current Makeup Routine post.  This is my go-to palette and the one that I travel with everywhere I go.  I don't know if you could tell by looking at her-- poor thing is so dirty (I mean loved).  It is the most versatile palette that I own.  You can create a neutral day look, a smoky evening look, or a bright, colorful look.  Literally anything you want!  Combine this palette with the rest of her vault collection and you don't need anything else!

"A natural matte eye look is easy, effortless and works for any occasion.  This palette has versatile, complimentary shades and lets you create endless combinations that can be subtle or more dramatic with a high quality, pigmented formula that is super easy to blend." -Morphe Cosmetics

I obviously have an unhealthy relationship with Morphe Cosmetics.  No one needs seven eyeshadow palettes from one brand.  Girl!  But, I love them all and use them for different looks.  Each one serves a purpose for me.

I understand that this probably seems like a lot to some people.  Trust me-- it's a lot to me too!  I just love makeup!  Do you have a go-to palette that you use?  Share your favorites below!  Let me know if you want to see any other portions of my makeup collection.
